The holes would need to be a bit bigger than the size of the rivet that you are putting in the cymbal. You can get rivets at Home Depot or you can get them at leather and craft stores but they are going to have different shaft diameters and lengths so the hole will depend on the rivet being used.

I have a 1960's Zildjian 22" ride that is factory drilled. 3/16" is the hole size.

I think 5/32" is the modern common size. It's the size I drill, and has worked well for all the different new rivets that I've come across.
