Hi there, new to this vintage lark...

...I've been referred this way by a fella on the Mike Dolbear drum forum, who reckoned you fine folk might have a better idea of what the devil a snare drum I'm in possession of actually is.

I found it in my nan's loft, if I remember rightly I paid a few quid for it from a junk shop years ago and then forgot all about it. It had a VERY knackered off-white 'pearloid' kinda finish on it originally (quite thick plastic, if I recall correctly) which I stripped off the remainder of; I've now sanded it down, rubbed down the rims and laquered it and it actually looks quite nice.

It's a six-lug job, with the tension rods going through loose holes which hook onto the rims ('collar hooks', I'm reliably informed). Um, the rods have slotted heads too, if that helps; the snare and strainer mechanism are missing so no help there :?

14" x 5" also. I'm not expecting it to be worth anything, I'm just curious as to what it might be (there's no badges nor signs of where badges might have attached), and what kind of strainer I can put on there.

Thanks in advance!

Two empty bottles of Jack and the varnish in the background..Eye Ball

Are those the lugs on the right side of the shell? Can you show the hardware better? Whatever is left of it...

Ah yes, hadn't noticed the background :o in my defence, one of the bottles holds cooking oil these days...

Yes, those are the lugs down the right in the last picture; apart from the rims they're just about all the hardware that's left, but I've reattatched them now, I'll get another picture later today.

Thanks for having a look!

Gah, still can't find the cable to connect my camera to the computer. Violin

As an update, I've reassembled what there is of it and had a stab at cleaning some of the cack off the heads before I put new ones on; they've got Everplay logos, so assuming they're the original heads does that point towards Premier? It's got slot-head tension rods also, which are very similar to those on an old Olympic kit I once had.

Proper picture when I find the bleeding cable, promise...

Premier is a good guess, but that lug just does not have the same profile as other Premier lugs.

I looked through my stuff from the 30's - 60's and no lug like that..

I will wait for the photos to see it as a drum..
