This is the 'Brother Thread' to Fayray's Stereo Hi-Fi :)

Last Summer I got this Premier Hi-Fi Snare in Brushed Chrome.

Came with a '73 Kit in Silver Star from England and there was much more work to do than expected...

Seems someone messed around before with this Beauty :(

- Badge wasn't (and is still) not installed perfectly, but okay for me

- only 3 (!) Swivel Nuts were original,

- 4 different type of Screws for the Lugs

- Hoops where TF, I replaced them for Die Casts.

- Got the correct Screws and Swivel Nuts (Kudos to Fayray from New Zealand and to this Forum!),

- Cleaning, Pleasure as usual with those Premiers!flower

- New Heads and Snares. Remo CS Dot for a deep '70s/ '80s Sound which I'm gonna go for with this one.

Interesting Differences to Andrew's Snare are his 10 Lugs (mine has 8) and the Strainer. This one works nice, I have the other model on my wooden Hi-Fi, which is cool, too but sometimes I accidently hit the handle playing Traditional Grip in a low Position.

Thanks for Watching,

Lars

I'm pretty sure they used those lugs on the 8 by 12...and had the long t-rods on the drum..

It sure looks like lugs off a 8 by 12..!

What is the hole placement?

I have a 60's 8 by 12 en route to me right now...will have in a few days........we can see if they are the same...

That sure is a cool finish ..(when in v. good shape!)...does anyone agree?

That must look amazing behind you SS kit or the GS kit!

Hi Blairn,

Thanks for the Information. Hard to imagine that someone would take away the original Lugs DOH The Hole Placement is original (no extra Holes).

But anyway, they look good and work, are in descent condition (so is the shell), they're Premier...

AND .....That Snare sounds great - now I'm glad to never have invested in a 5.5 Supra. (Love my 6.5., though)
