Hey y'all! new here...Werco drum ?...

Loading...

Hey everybody! I've been playing a 1967 ludwig set for 15 yrs and have just been given a forgotten set of WERCO drums. I'm going to attempt to refinish them but wanted to see if I could find out about them first. Judging only by the shape they"re in the old Remo heads, I would GUESS they're a bit old. Any suggestions on how to find out the age (there is some kind of serial number.....but it's hand written so i don't know if it's a phone number or a serial number :) ....) happy drumming.

Welcome!

Please post some pix in the "Non-USA " section and we will attempt to get the info to you. Werco are a "stencil" kit, built by Pearl or Star, don't know which until I see the drums. They are Japanese knock-offs and some of them can actually be made to sound quite good. As for refinishing, I would advise against a high dollar solution as you likely will never recoup the cost of say a re-wrap in todays wraps, unless you found something on sale for REALLY cheap. Old MIJ kits usually don't command big returns unless they have a really unusual wrap color and are in pristine condition.

"Ignorance may be overcome through education. Stupidity, however, is a lifelong endeavor." So, educate me, I don't likes bein' ignant...
"I enjoy restoring 60s Japanese "stencil" drums...I can actually afford them..."I rescue the worst of the old valueless drums for disadvantaged Children and gladly accept donations of parts, pieces and orphans, No cockroaches, please...
