I am looking at a 70s Yamaha 9000 series but the seller is not sure what the shells are constructed of. Here is what he gave me. Can anyone make anything of this? Thanks.

10x14 - TT-914DA PY-5031

16x18 - FT-918DA PY-5023

The 70's catalog has the 9000 series as all-birch laminated shells.

Thanks David. That is interesting b/c the guy selling them said they are definitely not 100% birch ( I think he could tell that I don't like birch). He wrote back and thinks they are a Mahogany/Birch blend. If that is the case, what would the sound characteristics be? From what I know about these kind of woods they have very different tonal qualities..?
