Help with valuation and id, K & A Zildjian

Loading...

Hi there!

Just bought a bunch of drumstuff, including som old Zildjian cymbals.

I would really like your help with some valuation and ID on them.

First of we have a K Zildjian Istanbul 20" Crash/Ride 1870g.

No cracks or dings, no keyhole, just a hint of wear in the centerhole.

4 rivetholes (Original? questionable). Nice patina.

After some research I think it's an llb, but I may be wrong.

Second.

A Zildjian 18" Crash/Ride (Maybe?) 1541g.

6 Factory drilled holes, 3 original rivets.

No damage at all, no wear in the centerhole.

I think it's a 60's model.

Third.

A Zildjian 15" Hi-hat, 1538g & 1503g.

Here aswell I think it's 60's model.

And what would you recommend, selling them on Ebay?

The only thing that I have to go on is that the last owner (who I bought it from) have had it in his possesion for 30 years, and he bought it from the guy who bought it brand new. When he bought it from him he was told that it was original. Correct me if I'm wrong, only saying what I was told.

No possibilitys that it's some specialorder or something?

The guy who owned it first was a professional jazzplayer at the time when he bought it.

Den första är värd mycket! Someone else in Sweden recently sold a 19 inch K for 800 dollars. It also depends on how it sounds, not all K's are sublime.

Lycka till! Björn

Tack! Japp jag förstod att där var lite värde i den, frågan är hur mycket. :)

Dock var där lite sprickor i centrumhålet på den som såldes, denna är nästintill perfekt.

I love the sound, it sounds really nice, warm tone and a bit trashy when u crash with it, nice stickdefinition and a cosy bell.

Saw this on Ebay:

Sure, could be special order, but I have had around 100-150 Turk K's in my life......don't recall a single 4 hole rivited one..........

Well as I said, I'm not an expert, I only stated what I have been told.

If it's not original, what difference would it do to the value and interest?

Makes no difference at all. Istanbul K's could have any number of rivet holes. They weren't drilled at the foundry. Only a few were drilled at the warehouse by Gretsch by special request. Most were done by the drummers themselves.

You're right, that is a IIb. These days the prices are depressed but its worth around $1800 to $2000.

The 18" is from the earlier 1960's era. Those "hi-hats" are late 1950's, but I don't believe are hi-hats actually. They are too heavy for that. I think these are band cymbals.
