I see how you got that...I more meant that there stupid for doing that. I was getting at I am getting all kinda heat for wanting to clean mine up, imagine what you guys would say to them guys that hammered on them things!!? I have a few things to say lol.Now with a artificial patina I think it could be used in place of the real thing with NO consequences at all. I also do not think anything anyone has ever done is the right way though. I think there is much more science and chemical reactions that go into a patina than we really know. If we knew then we can begin to mimic it.
I got the gist of what you were saying. In your defense, I think you were misunderstood in a lot of what you were saying. But as well, these guys do know what happens if you're trying to re-sell cymbals that are too clean. They are really looking out for your best interest and being passionate about this is an understatement.
Subtle artificial aging is the hardest thing to do on instruments. I've mastered it on guitars. I will have to figure out how to artificially age a wrap and lugs if I can't find suitable orphan drums to match this new Slingerland outfit I just picked up.
