Can any of you provide me with any information on this particular kit. I wish I had better pics, but this is all I've got. I'm trying to determine an approximate age and a model. Any and all "words of wisdom" would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.
Help with TAMA Kit
Looks like a Tama Rockstar from the start of the 90s! But i am quite sure it´s made in Japan - because of the Logos on the Drums!
regards
Christian
+ 1 on that.. Early 90's Tama Rockers.. Long lugs would be the indicator..
Maybe it's just the angle of the pic, but that floor tom looks like an 18" ?
How much damage has that pillow done ?

Tama rockstar DX (deluxe)
Yes made in Japan, the DX had one piece lug casings and basswood shells with wrap. The were also Xtras sizes 11x12 12x13.
Regular rockstar kits had split lugs and used "power" toms 8x10 10x12 11x13 etc.
1963 Ludwig Downbeat Champagne Sparkle
1964 Leedy (Slingerland) Blue n Silver Duco
1964 Ludwig Club Date Sparkling Silver Pearl
1966 Ludwig Super Classic Sparkling Silver Pearl
1968 Gretsch round badge modern jazz orange stain
1972 Slingerland 85N Pop outfit Light Blue Pearl
1976 Ludwig Vistalite clear
1981 Gretsch SSB Gran Prix Rosewood
1987 Yamaha Turbo Tour Custom Mellow Yellow
1991 Pearl Export Ferrari Red
I have a set like that, good solid drums. But the kicker is this - during production of that model Rockstar, the making of them went from Japan to Taiwan. My kit is a mix match, and they share the same badge, lugs, hardware. The difference being the country of origin.

Shells are phillipine mahogany with one inner basswood ply
The RK series (90-92) was Taiwanese whilst the DX and Pro were Japanese made
The RK was dropped at the end of '92 and replaced by the 'Swingstar by Tama' series
The DX and Pro were replaced also at that time by the RS series which had a beech inner ply instead of basswood.
All Rockstars were out of Taiwan from '97-on.
Why are you looking at that one when you can have this one (in our area) instead?
This one is cleaner and more rare.

Then there is this one - which is older - more mojo and style IMHO

I've taken a look at all of them, John. I'm not too familiar with TAMA products. That's why I appreciate all the input I receive from you and other fellow forum members.
