Help with Rogers kit

Loading...

I found this kit for sale, and it's going for pretty cheap. It's a script badge, but Fullerton, so that makes around 1969, right? Anyone see anything wrong with it? It's supposedly not a rewrap, sounds great and looks to be in great shape.

Was only able to take two pictures, but I'd appreciate any info. I didn't have time to measure it, but appears to be a 22, 16, 13, 12.

Can someone help me out? A general idea of its worth?

Thanks so much.

Best.

Thanks for the reply. I noticed the inlay too. Not a big deal to me. I think I can get them for $600.

Thanks again.

Stephen: if you can get them for $600, that's a pretty good deal. The only other thing I see, in addition to the non-original bass drum hoop, is the wrap seems to be lifting a bit along the seam on the FT. The Swivomatic hardware and chrome look to be in good condition. Fullerton drums with script badges and Swivomatic hardware are good, solid drums. If you get them, list the serial numbers and I'll give you a more specific date of manufacture. These four drums are worth up to $750, IMHO. Good luck.

Looks good...

All hardware is correct, the metal hoops look original..make sure the Colletts.tighten the tom arms well...!

See if theres a snare drum (powertone COB)...most likey..

The basspedal in the 2 nd pic looks like any old Camco....if so get it.i have 2...these are great.

I would consider $500/600....+$100/150 for the snare.

Take the hoops off the toms and inspect the 45% bearing edges..make sure the skins go on and off smoothly..if they don't the drums may not be in round...(important)

Take yr time and setup some hardware and plays the drums for any hr...

If you like them...you'ld know...

Check ALL paper tagsinside...look for big tags...and #' s that are somewhat in order.

Most important is that all tags are the same style...not mismatch with the smaller white 9/72 tags...

Spanish Gold was introduced around the same time as the Big R badges in 1976. Must be a very late period script kit. Nice kit for $600.

Thanks for replies guys. I'm not sure what to do. I don't like the separated seam on the FT, and it's in a busy 2nd-hand drums shop, so I don't know how easy it would be to play it for very long, check that the drums are in the round, and the other suggestions that have been made. The jury's still out. Please keep the opinions coming.

Thank you all so much for helping me out here.

Took another look at the kit, and gave the guy the 3rd degree. The drums are in the round, as he put new Evans heads on them (not 360s). The paper tags are all small and say 9/72, but they're in order. One bass drum spur holder is stripped out. How easy would it be to find one? He'll fix the seam peeling at no extra cost. The front hoop is a Mapex; again how easy would it be to find one (I know it would have to be painted on the inlay)? He's checked the bearing edges, and they're all at 45 degrees. The FT is indeed a 16". Despite its faults $600 seems a good deal for drums that sound this good.

Thanks.
