Help With My Ajax Kit

Loading...

Hello All

I'm hoping that the collective knowledge here can help me to restore my Ajax kit to some form of glory.

I bought it about 20 years ago when I was 14 for £60. I think its a Nu Sound. It was in terrible condition then and I was sadly quite unaware of just what I was in possession of. Since then its lived in various sheds, cars, lofts, etc. Bits have fallen off and been replaced. Now I find myself in two bands that are booking festivals this summer and am keen to replace the missing bits and bobs. I've been buying up some half decent cymbals, re-skinning, etc and the repairs are the last part of my plan.

I'm missing one lug and tightening bolt (?) for the kick drum and also the wingnut/bolt bit (?) which threads through the rack tom mount on the kick drum. Also missing from this housing is the small, slightly curved plate which I guess was there to stop damage to the swivel mount arm by the wingnut/bolt thing.

(apologies for my lack of technical knowledge - that's also why I'm here :D)

Do any of you know of a good place to source these little pieces? I'm not obsessed with tracking down 100% original Ajax parts, just enough to make it play as well as it can again.

Again, many thanks in advance and hello.

ps - I'm based in the South-west, UK.

Below is a cr*ppy phone photo of the bassdrum racktom mounting. On closer inspection I see that the plate was actually part of the metal inner tube and has snapped off. I'm guessing this doesn't bode well.

Next is the other end on the racktom - this is what it should look like :D

Finally is a photo of the lugs, one of which I need.

Keep your eyes peeled on ebay u.k. . I search for Ajax parts quite frequently but not Nu Sound stuff but I do see parts frequently. It will be your best source unless there is a really good want add site for musical instruments in the u.k.

Ajax are great drums. keep those nice ones going.
