Looks to be a pieced together kit as far as I can tell from the pictures. The serial #s on the black/white badges cannot be used to date it as there were no records kept by Ludwig. They were introduced in 1984 and used till the mid 90s on the Rocker series drums and foriegn made snare drums. Also, there were no Mach or high tension lugs, like the ones on the bass drum, ever produced on drums with the B/W badges. In fact, I'm not sure that the classic lugs, like on your toms, were put on rocker series drums. Lastly, the finish or wrap on your drums was not offered by Ludwig.

Inhavw definitely never seen this type of wrap before. You mean pieces together kit like they picked shells from different kits and had them custom wrapped?

That wrap looks like one that Precision used to offer about 20 years ago. I think it was called something or other onyx but was discontinued. Ludwig never offered it as a factory finish so these were rewrapped at some point. The B/W badge does not go along with the mach style lugs on the bass drum so I'd agree it is probably a pieced together set. No real harm with either of those details if the drums work for you and you're not a "collector".

Could this be the wrap? It's called Pearl Onyx and was offered by Precision Drum quite some years ago.

That is the one I was thinking of, whether it matches the OP's drums I can't tell for sure.

The B/W badges generally indicate a "Rocker" series drum but it might be possible in this case that whomever rewrapped the set got some of those badges (used) to use on these since they "match" the new wrap.

The lugs on the bass drum are definitely the Rocker series. There were several iterations of the Rocker Series. I believe these were early/mid 90's. See photos below. That's the badge that came on those series of Rockers, not the Black/White badges, but as we all know, Ludwig had some inconsistencies with their badging.

It's hard to tell from the photos (can you post larger/clearer ones?) what types of lugs are on the toms, but they don't appear to be the one piece "long" lugs like on the bass drum (or the rest of that Rocker series). Also, post some clear photos of the tom mounting hardware/brackets if you can. Also, is the bass drum badge B/W, or just the toms?

At first glance it appears they are different, mis-matched shells that have all been wrapped to match. No harm in that, as long as the shells themselves are good and you are not looking at a high resale value. The wrap is really unique and the bass drum has wood hoops, so all in all not a bad kit. As long as you like them, that's the most important thing.

Please post clearer photos of the rest of the drums. Also, can you see if there is any evidence of original holes that were either filled in or covered by the wrap?

The lugs on the bass drum look more look more like the high tension "mach" lugs used on top of the line Ludwigs than the fake high tension version used on the Rocker series. Hard to say for sure from the small pictures.

The overall proportions of the bass drum make it look like it is 14" deep by 26 or 28 inches in diameter (minimum 24"), possibly originally a marching drum which would also fit well with having those style lugs which were developed for and more typically used on marching drums.

In the late 70's early 80's there were some drums sold as Standards (not the late 60's ones) and then the very early Rockers which both had the classic lugs used on some of them and some of which used the B/W badges.

I still wonder about these not being the original badges but ones someone chose to better color coordinate with the new wrap. That would seem an obvious thing to do for someone who didn't care about collector value but did care about overall looks.
