Help with 1966 Slingerland kit, 26" kick?!?

Loading...

Hi, I am going to be cleaning up and selling my kit, but it don't much about it or how much it is worth. It looks like Rogers hardware was added, and the silver sparkle doesn't appear to be original either. Here is what I do know...

Kick: 26 x 14 - has a "Slingerland Quality Drums, Ser. No. 34146, Niles Illionois USA" tag on it. "M" stamped on the inside.

Snare: 14 x 5 - Metal, Serial 217384

Tom 1: 12 x 8 - Serial 104073, has "Mar X 1966" and "P" stamped inside

Tom 2: 14 x 10 - Serial 34198, has "M" stamped inside

Tom 3: 15 x 10 - Serial 35859

Tom 4: 16 x 16 - definitely from a different kit, though probably a similar time period. The wood is a little more red than the other three toms. Has a "P" and what appears to be "April 1968" inside.

Here are some pics. Any info or thoughts on what this is worth, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

It is odd that the 16x16 has a mahogany interior with a 1968 stamp. I thought that they stopped using it around 63 or 64??? The 14x10 and 15x10 are maybe marching drum sizes along with the bass. Maybe thats why it has the Rogers hardware. Just a guess.

It could be "1963" not "1968." Its a bit hard to read. So that is mahogany? Do you know what the other drums most likely are?

Probably maple.

From lucky

Except that the badge is in the right place for a kit bass drum. Instead of centered and turned sideways.

The black and silver badged drums are from the '70s.

The finish looks original...Slingerland's silver sparkle was very similar to the available re-wrap material. If the grommets look good, the wrap may be original.

Because of all the mods, and incorrect parts, I suspect that if you're selling the set, you may not get more than $500 or so.

Since this set was pieced together, it might be a good candidate for selling each drum and / or parts individually...

Taking another look at the pics and description, it appears that the floor tom and the 12 came together or at a similar time.

The bass and larger toms were from the '70s...

Thanks for the help. I will be selling it, and maybe I will separate the drums like you suggested. I am in Ann Arbor, MI if anyone wants to see them.
