HELP! Snare Drum question,.........

Ok, I need help. I have an old Slingerland snare drum that I'm trying to fix up. I have a problem though. I'm not sure how to set up the snares on the drum! It's a really old looking the snare strainer (I think some call it a "clamshell" strainer) Anyway, I have never had to monkey around with one of these before! I would GREATLY appreciate any help anyone can give me on getting the snares on! Thank you!

There must be something going on, because the Clamshell is one screw on the strainer and one on the butt side.

So we know you are using the correct wires and things are in order can you give us a photo?

Here is a drum with Puresound wires on it...

Thanks so much for the pic! That's exactly what mine looks like, I was just unsure of how it was set up though. The pic helped a lot thanks so much!
