Help Restoring Shine on Chrome Rogers Shell

Okay, so this purchase of a Rogers Powertone might not have been my best...but seemed to be worth the money....the key word being "seemed". The shell might have been cleaned with steel wool creating lots of fine scratches. Question is, is there anything I can do to improve the shine or, do I a) get another shell or b) Judy dump the snare and start over?

Its going to sound the same no matter how shiney it is.

Try one of the better automotive chrome polishes thats out there. You might be able to buff it out.

And if you cant, you have a Rogers brass shell Powertone thats going to kill for sound. Its a mid Dayton period drum, extremely well made, and easily the match for any similar 500.00 drum you would buy today.

I had the same problem. Chrome is damaged and it will not polish out if they used steel wool on it. I put a band of matching wrap in the center between the beads. Turned out pretty nice.

Interesting solution, turned out quite nice. But for me, and maybe I made a mistake picking this particular snare, I really wanted a nice chrome PT. If I can't make it better, will probably look for a nice used shell on Ebay.
