Help repairing a Camco Hi-hat

Loading...

I have a Camco hi-hat (pic below) that clearly is not functioning properly.

The knurled round dial at the bottom of the tube does not seem to engage and so I am unable to modify the tension.

Other than this issue, the hi-hat is in fine condition and I'd prefer to fix it if possible. Does anyone either know where I can find a 'take-apart' for a Camco hi-hat and/or have experience with this?

Thanks! Jeff

If i re-call right on these stands on the bottom of the tube near the legs look for a small set screw take that out and un=screw the tension washer it should screw right out. This will drop out the washer with the spring on it.Your problem maybe only the spring has come off the washer all you have to do is twist the spring back on the washer...and put the stand back together...I can check later today to see if i have any of these parts in the shop i you need them...Mikey

Mikey--

I bow to the master!!

I removed the set screw and checked out the assembly. I'm thinking the threaded cylindrical collar somehow DID come disengaged from the thumbscrew assemblly.

After a cleaning some of the excess oil that had accumulated and ensuring that the thumbscrew was definitely engaged I now have a working Camco hi-hat that doesn't require two cinderblocks to close!

Thanks, man!

Jeff
