Here is what I use and you can see the results in the kits I post in the image gallery. I have used this method on near 100 drum shells or more and it works well for me. There is a bit of a learning curve but don't be afraid to try it as it works so well.

Buff with small power buffer, I use a 3" pad in a cordless drill or a small 6" automotive buffer.

With a lambswool pad I use 3M Perfect III XL buffing compound or Wizards Turbo Cut. Buff until the compound appears to be gone and you will see the wrap start to shine.

Then on a foam pad I follow up with Meguiars No 6 Cleaner Wax.

Be sure you wet the pads first with some water otherwise the compounds don't work real well. Also watch the RPM's of the buffing unit as you want to stay under aprox 2000 rpm or the pad could burn the wrap

The 3M product takes out 1200 and finer sanding scratches and gives the luster back you are looking for. Then the cleaner wax gives it the ultra high sheen.

Hey nopork, will this method lighten faded wrap without doing any sanding? I just have some faded Premier black pearl from the mid/late 60's but don't really need to sand scratches out. Novus did a nice job of cleaning but the fade is still there.

The compound might take some of it out but I think that sanding will be the way to do it. 400 or 600 grit wet sand, if really bad, then 800, 1000, 1200 and the buff.
