Help! Old Ludwig (?) strainer...

Hello everyone,

I'm new here but have enjoyed reading the posts. I just bought an old drum set that came with a snare. On that snare there is this strainer which I can not seem to figure out! I'm trying to fix up these drums to play em, but this strainer is not working for me. If anyone can tell me if mine is broken, or what I could be doing wrong?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the welcome! Good to know what kind of strainer it is. I read that it can break down into 3 pieces for cleaning, but I'm having difficulty figuring out how. If anyone has any pointers I would really appreciate it!!

The bottom part that holds the snare wire comes off, but other than that it won't come apart. I hate to ask seemingly obvious questions but I don't want to wreck an old snare strainer!

I got it figured out! For some reason the previous owner had stuck part of a bobby pin in there that was complicating things. Thanks again for the help.
