Help me identify these Gretsch

Loading...

Last sunday we threw a benefit for the family of a friend that died of cancer.

A friend of mine supplied these drums for the benefit. It is a very nice 3 piece gretsch kit. it consisted of a 14dx15 virgin tom, a 16dX18 floor tom and a 24dx14 virgin bass drum. The bass drum was the same color as this tom, but it has natural colored wood rims. I supplied the rest of the drum kit for the 5 bands that played. heres a pic of the virgin tom

80's-90's Gretsch. Seems like it's from the 80's. Jasper shells, more collectable (I have Grestchs with jasper and keller, it does not matter to me) Great time period for Gretsch, in my opinion. I'm looking for a 18 floor tom in rosewood, but, that kit should be sold together. Are you looking to buy the set and are asking what a fair price would be?

That kit has the oversized drum shells, almost Bonham sizes. It should be great for rock. USA made Gretsch, keep them safe, they can't really be replaced. Gretsch still makes those sizes and color, but, the shell maker has changed. I do not believe that kit has the same value on your link, but, someone out there might overpay. Just last week a 24,14,18 in rosewood, I think it was a "stop sign" badge (SSB) for $850. The SSB is from the 70's. A cool part about Gretsch is when Fred Gretsch took back Gretsch in 1985. That's when they started to make real good drums again. The 60's round badge drums are very expensive, but, there are still deals to be found on the 80's-90's drums. I would be very conserative and say the drums in your car are at least in the $800-$1200 range. They could go higher on ebay if the right buyer has that jones. I have 2 rosewood gretsch kits, love 'em. I'm always looking at them to add to my collection, and I'm not the only one out there.

Here's the link to a recent ebay sale
