Found it! These are the MIJ made Kent drums. Check out the Kent completed listings on ebay and you'll see a BDP set just like these with the badges. Snare is definitely Pearl, but has the Star tom mount, so...

True - Kent did start using import shells late- then eventually sold their name to Pearl. A couple of things here - 1) NO WAY is that a rewrap (someone tell me WHERE you can find a contemporary BDP in THAT pattern ?!!!? - it screams '60's Japanese !!!) 2) No pics of shell interiors so who's to say they are thin or thick shells ? And who's to say what kinda wood even ? My guess is typical Japanese luan shells - maybe 3-ply maybe 6-ply. Cool set - and for $200 obo - I would have gone for it !!!

Here ya go:

Item number: 330428546439

http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-60s-BLACK-DIAMOND-PEARL-KENT-4-DRUM-SET-W-SNARE-/330428546439?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Vintgae_Drums_Percussion&hash=item4cef137d87

This is in the completed listings. I cant seem to get the pics to load here, sorry.

Kent badges? check. EW Kent heads on BD, RT, FT? check. Star tom mount, Pearl snare. Lugs are the same as the set in the first post. I'd have to say this is a positive ID, unless the ebay set is a fake, but I doubt it.

Thanks for the link and the pics, i appreciat. Now...hu!hum!...if you look very closely at the lugs on the kent's toms ,and compare them with those on the johnnyz's pics ,you,ll notice the difference. The kent lugs are just a little bit larger, and thicker, pretty close though, i admit ,but, different.(look at the lines)Same thing for ALL the other parts...different.i mean look at them..Yes Sir.****Beside of that**** -TRUE-the wrap scream's 60's Japanese!-TRUE-we have no pics of the interior shells! but again, like i've said -IF-IT-IS-LIKE-THE-ONE-I-HAVE-they should be as i described them, but one thing is, for sure, whit those mij ,we never know... and somehow,i kind of like that...............................cheers.:)

To me that set is Not a Kent set,The lugs are wrong to be kent, kent lugs are shorter and fatter the ones on the set posted are longer and thinner. Also if you look at the photo of the mounted tom you will see were the badge was it was hold on to drum by 4 nails with a tack also like gretsch with out the nails..So ia'm back to say the set is a late 60s M.I.J. set but i can't recall the name of that badge...Mikey

No Kents I've ever seen had sticksaver hoops. That snare has the same hardware on it as my circa 68 Pearl snare.Sometimes I feel that these drums were just never meant to be figured out....I'll be posting pix of the 68 snare soon-the "Rat".

OK, trhis snare is a Pearl stencil. The rest? I don't know, they could very well be Kent. but they most certainly are not the stensil type with Sound King lugs, those are more Ludwig-like, without the ridges. And the badge, well on the tom, it certainly says Kent...
