Help identifying this red sparkle finished Japanese snare drum.

I picked up what I think to be a vintage Japanese snare drum. Unfortunately the badge has been removed. There is a bit of residue that would indicate that it was an oval shaped badge. Any insight on the maker would be appreciated.

The photos I attached displayed way too big so here is an album of the photos:

I'm looking through badges here: http://vintagedrumguide.com/japanese_drums/badges.html

& an oval badge isn't really going to help narrow down the brand, though it does eliminate a few....What is particular though are the die-cast rims, which aren't often on MIJ kits. I've only seen a few on here. Wish I could help more...

1964 Ludwig Champagne Super Classic
1970 Ludwig Blue Oyster Super Classic
1977 Rogers Big R Londoner 5 ebony
1972/1978 Rogers Powertone/Big R mix ebony

Hello,

what can be eliminated are all oval badges of Star or any of their sub brands.

This snare drum is definitely not made by Star.

Cheers, Ralf

I had a very similar snare drum. Same lugs, hoops and tension rods. All original...but no badge! The lugs are heavy die-cast, with a large felt strip inside. Pretty much unheard of in an MIJ snare drum. The tension rods are 1/4-20!! Also somewhat rare. Should have hung onto that drum!

Hang onto yours, as I've never seen that many of these!

Identical snare to the OP on the bay right now - badged as Barclay.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Just checked out that snare. Easily worth the BIN: die-cast hoops alone are worth the asking price. You don't often see MIJ snare drums of this higher quality build.
