Hello. I'm not an active member here but I think that this is the best place to find information about this mistery, to me, snare
I've just bought it in a GAS attack and I've been told by the seller that it might be made in Spain but he is not sure. It has skin heads right now and modern heads do no fit according to the seller:

The lugs remind me of a Italian design...
Had something similar on my old Zickos (1971)...

I don't know. I bought it for 100 euros in a forum here and I suppose that I'll receive it this week.
As soon as it arrives I'll share more details and pics with you all.
I know that there were a bunch of drum builders in Spain years ago, Raf, Honsuy, Gibernau... but there's very little information about them and their kits are very rare.
It doesn't look like Honsuy, but I could be wrong. If modern heads don't fit, then it's probably pre-international size, maybe a 13,5"?? This would be consistent with a 1950s drum.

The snare arrived today and it's bigger than 14 so it's maybe a 15?
It has skin heads both top and bottom and they look like new but have been there for 10 years according to the seller.
If it's a Honsuy it's the first time I've ever seen these lugs and the strainer.
I'll post some pics of the snare tomorrow.
I've been told by a couple of Spanish people that the snare might be a Lluquet snare.
Guillermo Lluquet was an instruments distributor that also sold guitars in the 50's and 60's.
These lugs were also used by another spanish brand called Industria musical and the strainer has some resemblance with the ones used by another Spainsh brand called RAF. Both RAF and Industria Musical drums were made in Barcelona.
A mystery... Not easy to find info on those brands. I was able to locate some Lluquet catalog pages - there is indeed a drum size 38cm (that should be around 15") and there's the pic of a snare shell very similar to this one... but not exactly the same.
It's still possible that the snare is a custom-made instrument by a local guy. Any more details about it??
