Help Identifying Crestline Drums

Loading...

Good evening friends,

I'd like to ask for your assistance in identifying a set of Crestline drums. I've had these drums for years but never knew where they came from. I have no illusions that they are valuable, but the fact that they might at least be "vintage" is interesting. An help with identification would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Your set is one of about 50 names used by Pearl..Photos are small but by the tom mount i can see that would date your drums from 1974-76..Shells look to be 9 ply with out rings..Price for the four drums i don't see any snare or stands looks like the drums have some missing piece's with that said maybe 75.00-100.00 tops...Mikey

Hey, thanks for the fast response guys! Great information. When I got them (15 years ago?) it didn't even cross my mind that they might already be 20 years old, so even hearing they're from the 70's is neat to me.

Since we're expecting a baby and need the room, I do indeed need to sell them, so I appreciate the price estimates. I do have more pieces but just posted photos of the "Crestline" stuff because the rest is a mishmash, but if anyone wants to take a whack at what the whole mess should go for, that would be great too:

Thanks guys, you rock.

First of all, Welcome! to VDF. Congrats for the new life and being responsible about bringing one in to the world. Now, down to the biz of biz. The cymbals are worth, ready for this....? MORE than the drums. I would sell them separately. The drums are worth about $150, tops. Sorry dude, just the market today. The cymbals, the rest of the boys and girls would have to give you the skinny on them, but $300ish or more (if they are all Zildjians) would not be an unreasonable expectation I should think, if the hi-hats are decent. Don't let anyone sneak up on you and steal them from you....it does happen on here from time to time. Me, I'd think real hard about selling the cymbals as a complete deal, that way you don't end up with 1 left and nothing to do with it but hang it on the wall...or not, just whatever works for you.

Looks like you've got 13" hats, a 13 and 14 crash and an 16 or 18" crash/ride? The big one is a nice looking cymbal. IF you try to clean it, DO NOT use steel wool, a 3-M scratch pad or anything abrasive, just rinse them off with soapy water and a soft cloth.

And if you decide to clean any other parts, just wipe them down, leave the tear-down to someone else that knows the routine...do you have the parts for the bottom heads? If you encounter ANY problems selling the drums, send me a private message, you might end up just donating them to a music school or broke kid....just how we do it sometimes my man (I "give away" 3-5 complete drum sets a year, and I'm seriously broke, but other forum members also donate parts and pieces to me so that my little mission can continue)...pay it forward for some kid that can't, if you can afford to do so, if not, it's OK because we all know how it is out here.

"Ignorance may be overcome through education. Stupidity, however, is a lifelong endeavor." So, educate me, I don't likes bein' ignant...

Thanks Jonni! Wow, you're right, did not expect that! I guess I should focus on identifying the cymbals more than the drums :) Here's the breakdown on the cymbals:

Zildjian 12" Splash (painted logo)

Zildjian 16" Thin Crash (painted logo)

Zildjian 19" (something) (stamp only)

Zildjian 15" Hi Hat (stamp only)

So, I guess the main mystery is the 19". I added some photos including a closeup of the stamp here: http://benfineman.com/drums_for_sale/Site/Drums.html

Anything else I can do to identify the 19"? It's heavy, if that helps.

Thanks again, this is all great information.

Your 19" looks to be from the 50's. Hard to tell from the photo, but the 15" might be 70's. Look here and compare.
