Help identifying an old Slingerland set?

Loading...

I am looking at what is being sold as an old Slingerland set but can't really figure out if it is authentic, or what year/era it might be from. Here are a few photos from the ad:

I have looked all over online trying to find any information on the rectangle badge and can't find anything. Might anyone be able to provide a little bit of information regarding this badge and this kit in general? I do know that some of the hardware has been replaced and that isn't really a concern of mine, I'm mainly trying to figure out the origin of the shells and drum kit themselves. Any information and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Alan

Those do not appear to be Slingerland drums IMO. No other badges makes me skeptical of that kit.

I found a thread on Slingerland marching toms with a similar tag

And I stole a pic off the eBay auction that was being discussed

yeah. marching badge. Nice wrap, though. That would make a seriously cool kit after a bit of work and tweaking.

From kevins

I've seen those tags on marching toms before, but I don't recall the year(s).....

Kevins is right on the badges...But i think the set is Not even a S/L set..This is what i think--photo#1--The cymbal L-arm mount looks to be 60's M.I.J.--photo#2--grommet[[air hole]]does not look s/l at all more like 60s M.I.J. badge is s/l iam thinking its been added to the drum---Photo#3--the biggest give away--look inside of shell the spur mounts inside are not s/l looks like blocks of wood were the spur is again M.I.J.[[that was used on three ply shells they did not used matel washers]] 60s also tom mount looks Tama to me--Photo#4--also another give away--look inside shell looks to me i see three rings inside front--middle--back--again 60s M.I.J. set...So to me the only thing on the set is that one s/l badge...Mikey

You guys were indeed correct, it wasn't a complete Slingerland set after all. The bass, 13" tom, and snare all seemed to match but the 12" and floor tom had an ever so slightly different finish and looked like they had been recovered to match the others. Needless to say I passed on the deal. Thanks to everyone for all of the info!
