Help identifying 70s Rogers kit!!

Loading...

Saw this on craigslist for very cheap. Can anyone tell me anything about this kit? From what i could gather on my own it seems like it may be late 70s. Is it worth buying?

Thanks in advance!

The bass drum doesn't look right to me. Too deep and no "T" rods. The toms look O.K.

Worth owning, Buying depends on the price. Need more info on the snare and stands. Cymbals included? Excellent sounding drums. Bulletproof wrap, though less popular finish from collectors. Any wrap lifting?

If it's cheap, it will sound great, and better if a good deal. Check visually first, but should have no issues with overall quality of the shells.

Thanks for the timely response, guys. I havent seen the kit in person yet so i unfortunately cant give any details about the wrap, badges, etc. The guy is not including the cymbals, which i honestly dont care about. He said that he doesnt have the mounting hardware for the rack toms.

looks like a 16x18 floor tom converted to a bass drum...

Early Big R drums (Swivo FT legs; not yet transitioned to Memriloc legs). Hard to tell from the pic if the bass is a converted 18" or 20" FT. It has the tom mount installed on top and non-Rogers spurs. If it's an 18", those vintage 18" hoops have some value.

So the seller says he doesn't have the tom mounting hardware? Then why is it pictured? The post of the double tom stand should fit right into the mount installed on the bass. Can't tell what the snare is.

So what's the asking price?

He said that he doesn't have the mounting hardware for the rack toms.

Actually, the top post of the floor tom mount fits the bass drum mount, so no worries there. Sounds like the guy does not really know Rogers drum hardware configuration, so inspect carefully.

Check to make sure the internal center post is in the bass drum as well. Just having the mount on the shell can cause the shell to crack. Having wrong claws and tension rods on bass drum might just means they were removed sometime in the past.

I agree. Look at the Swivomatic mounting hole pattern just above the spur.

I bet these drums were part of a larger kit configuration like the Ultra Power Seven and this current bass drum was once the 16x18 floor tom.

Since you disclosed you saw them on CL for cheap, you better go get these if you're seriously interested. There are probably people searching each CL locale since you started this thread.
