6 lugs with a P-83 makes it a Pioneer, not sure WFL catalogs advertised a pioneer but did have the P-83 with WFL on it.

Looks like it has the exterior re-finished and that could be when the throw was switched. I don`t think it should have a WFL badge though.

With that interior being Mahogany and not painted, and the lug screws being screwdriver slot screws, I'd say pre 1960 most likely. Could be a Transition badge model 58ish-60ish. Or a WFL model prior to that, 55-57. Many would call this a Pioneer having the 6 lugs. Prior to 1960 they were called Supreme Concert 5.5x14 model. The earlier models did not have tone controls usually. So that may point it towards the late 50's transition badge era. Hope this helps some.

The pioneer ran for a while and I think started in the late 50`s. I`ll stop guessing now and look around.

You got a number stamp inside ?

I looked at that just now and the supreme had 8/6 lugs with the surefire throw.

I think this one is on the older end of the Pioneers, it`s got to be, P-83, Nickel lugs, and mahogany.....Without a date stamp, you wont get an exact year, it ran for a while, the best anyone can do is give you an era.

Definitely not.. You can clearly see the traces of black paint over the bearing edge, and you can see the grain on the exterior.. Usually, Pioneers would have a lacquered paint job over the wood, with no visible grain..They were famous for flaking and chipping after years of exposure to the elements..

The Duco paint models were usually done on a Maple exterior. The grain/texture on this one resembles a Mahogany exterior.

Mr. Comco,

What does the muffler knob look like?

Oh the "Black Paint" again.....

Agreed,

Looks like mahogany under there.

Sand off the black and see if it can all come off/out.

The Mahogany would look cool re-finished.
