Help id vintage zildjian new beats

Hey Zildjian guys, just wanted to know a few things about these hats that i'll hopefully be acquiring this week end. Seller has them advertised as 70's new beats. As far as pictures go, seems that's correct. I'm a Paiste guy so don't know much about vintage Zildjians, but i do know that hollow logo means 70's. However, after some research on the internet, apparently these are a first generation "new beat" set of hats, according to the way the bottom back ink stamp is stamped. I only know this through this website i found on the topic of the introduction of the first new beats that were paired together, as opposed to earlier versions which were purchased separately ? Please forgive my ignorance, and if i'm wrong please correct me. The other thing i'd like to know is, how do these compare to the 80's and 90's versions in terms of weight, brightness, etc.? Any thoughts and info would be greatly appreciated, as it will secure my decision to purchase vintage rather than new. They're also an amazing deal as well !! Glad you found my site. I haven't gone back and updated the New Beats page yet, but I can tell you that since that was written:

The hollow Zildjian logo is now more accurately dated to 1978-mid 1982 in the factory, although there will be plenty of retail sales of existing stock after 1982 which still has the hollow Zildjian logo.

The ink saying BOTTOM HI-HAT / NEW BEAT starts before the hollow Zildjian logo but lasts well into the hollow Zildjian logo period

The year for promoting New Beats as a pair (in the catalog and in ads) has shifted from 1968 to 1970. That's an example of why I always suggest you imagine a ±2 after each year. New evidence comes to light from time to time.

The ones you are thinking about will come from the time when New Beats were sold (and marketed) as a pair.

80s are heavier

90s are heavier again

Heavier generally means brighter (other things like bell size and profile being unchanged)

I need to go back and redo that page to include more up to date information, but I'm a bit tied up with other things at the moment.

Lol ! So that was your site ? What kinda luck do i have, eh ? LOL ! Thanks a lot for the information, it was extremely helpful. So if i understand correctly, mine can date anywhere from early 70's to early 80's ? Whatever the case, i'm sure they'll sound great. Can't wait to go get 'em.
