I bought these drums for a very cheap price and want to know if there is a reason why they were so cheap. Its a silver sparkle lacquer, not a wrap, in almost perfect condition. It didn't come with the original snare or mounting arms for the two toms. None of the badges has serial numbers and there are no numbers on the inside of any of the drums. Im almost positive its all birch because of the light colored insides. What throws me off the most is that the floor tom hardware matches the rest of the kit, normally the hardware on premier's floor toms doesn't go up the whole length of the drum like the rest of the kit. Feel free to ask for more info or more specific pictures if needed. Thanks in advance for the help.
Help ID Premier drums
I'm assuming they are a limited edition APK or APK Cabria model, probably early 90's, though they could be XPKs. Normally the APKs were wraps and the XPKs were lacquered. The Artist Heritage Birch kits were made with this gorgeous finish, but with smaller single lugs. Non-vintage Premiers just don't have a huge resale value with the exception of certain high end series. One more reason to buy them! Enjoy!

As a former owner of a brand new XPK in 1998, I can confirm that this has the same tom post mount on the BD and is likely and earlier XPK, as the 1998 that I had featured the small individual lugs as opposed to the longer lugs like these. My guess is that this is a pre-1998 (XPKs came out in the 80s - this could be that old I suppose?)
Nice kit - we are all wondering how much a 'very cheap price' is??

I got it on craigslist for 300 bucks. Vintage or not 300 bucks for how good it looked and sounded, plus he threw in some sabian hi hats for free. Thanks for the quick responses guys, ive posted on a few other sites and got nothing for weeks.
That looks like a fantastic kit, especially for $300. I have a soft spot for Premier drums. It will be interesting to see what you think of them now that you have them.
Very proud owner of a new Blaemire Snare 6.5 x 14 made by Jerry Jenkins "Drumjinx"
Great score for 300$! I had an Artist Heritage Birch Club Kit in this exact finish. Very classy! The wraps on APKs were really thin and breakable, so this finish really adds to these drums! If you are looking for a matching snare, one from the Artist Heritage line could be a solution. They are higher quality builds than some of the APK/XPK wooden snares IMHO. My APK/Cabria snare had snare beds cut so deep that it was literally unusable. A lot of the APK/XPKs came with the 1026 ( 8 lug) or 1036 (10 lug) steel snares. They can be picked up cheaply and are a great bang for your buck!
The matching hitension lugs on the floor toms started some time in the 70's, though I can't tell you exactly when. Both APK and XPK models had black paint on the inside of the shells for a long time, though not on all models. This leads me to believe that they are later XPks, before the introduction of the smaller lugs. Again, a guess. I had an APK Cabria transition model that didn't have the black paint. That's the best I can do, but I'm sure you can find more info at http://www.mikedolbear.com/

Good Drums, great silver Sparkle, resonable Price. Would be nice to see 'em all set up!
Those look similar to the Premier Drums I've been teaching on since around 1999. Lacquered Shells. Birch? I'm not quite sure, but they sound good and the Quality is fine. Great Classic Premier Design.
I think those are XPKs or Cabrias: see here (bottom left)
