Help ID Gretsch 20's snare

Loading...

Hey guys. I am looking at purchasing a Gretsch snare that the seller claims in from the 20's. Im having trouble finding any information about Gretsch's 20's snares. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance!

Might be 1930s. Here is your drum in an old pic they used on the 1936 cover drum page. That's as early as my paper goes back to. That 3pt. throw off wasn't shown on the snares or sets offered that year. The throw off can be found in the 1939 catalog but with rocket lugs.

Thanks! Good find. Any idea what model this might be? 3 ply mahogany? Still debating on pulling the trigger for $200 plus shipping

Are replacement badges hard to find?

Ok, so I pulled the trigger on this snare last week.

Here are a few of my photos. Any additional info on this drum would be greatly appreciated. There seems to be precious little information on the Gretsch American drums on the web and even Gretch pages tend to bypass those drums.

Thanks for the help!!

At least you have your badge! No stinkin' badges for me - just the ghost of an imprint.
