Help! I need to find the perfect hats!

Loading...

I just made a video (loading it right now) on my first impressions of a pair of vintage Meinl Ambico Camber 14 inchers. They are both around 750 grams and may be just what you are looking for. I will insert the link to the video when it is done loading up. Other than this pair itself, this video features these cymbals (1 of them) combined with several bottoms.

Smooth like butter, warmer and they are fantastic recorders. These are Nickel Silver BTW.

UPDATE: Here is the video------

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I HAVE A SET OF OLD a'S THAT have that sound, i mix and match my hats,

i get some really great sounds, there all like records each one unique...

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Tried Dream Cymbals at NAMM, and the Contact and Bliss lines are worthy of consideration by those who like thinner hats.

I have found that Sabian 13" HHX models are really decent. Maybe not as thin as you are looking for but the sound friggin' great.

It sounds as if time is a factor and some of these could take weeks or even months to locate. I would buy some hats that are available right now on eBay and have them over nighted. Paper-Thin 1940s Trans Stamp, PPR-TH. 1950s Avedis Zildjian USA, PPR-TH "K" Zildjian Istanbul. You should be able to get almost exactly what you are looking for with these, especially in a modern recording studio...

Since the original post was 8th of August 2013 we had better hope that time is not such a big factor for the originator of this thread.
