The first stamp pic represents a Block Stamp, also called Hollow Block. These are usually considered mid 50's. The second stamp pic is of a late 50's stamp. Most cymbals from these/this era sound very nice. Don't see a lot of 18's with that stamp. Usually more of 20's and 22's.

I am relatively new to drumming (35 years a guitar guy only 4 years a drummer) and a complete noob when it comes to vintage cymbals, so I don't trust my ears to pick out subtleties yet, but the difference between these and my modern cymbals (mostly Paiste Signatures) is truly remarkable. These are so creamy in comparison. I need to do some recording with them to see how well their character shows up in a mix, but in an acoustic, low volume setting they are really fantastic.

If I were to look for another vintage cymbal to compliment these hats and the 18", what would you suggest?

Glad to help. Yes, the old A's have a nice mellow sound and are very versatile in many applications. Your hats are also nice in that they are 15's. That's a desirable size for many. 14's are much more common.

If those were mine and I was looking to "complete" them, I'd ad a 22" 50's Zildjian to what you have. A 20" would also be fine. But I like the 22's. You can usually find a decent one matching either of your stamps, without breaking the bank.

I will actually have a couple of 1950's 20's for sale in the next few weeks. Cutting down the collection.
