Hi,

I am new to this web-site and mainly here to ask for your help. I don't play the drums myself but became an owner of a set about 12 years ago when I traded some electronic equipment to a friend that was no longer using them.

We'll, my son never really got a hardened desire and lost interest. Since nobody else in the family wanted to learn to play, I ended up with this set sitting in my house taking up floor space ever since.

I remained ingorant of what I had until a couple of years ago when I first thought about selling them. I was pleasantly surpised to learn this set had become somewhat of a collectors edition and had some value. My problem is, I'm trying to seperate the BS from the facts. I've seen some asking prices that seem-to-me to be pie-in-the-sky. I've seen other pricing for individual components that seem way too low.

The set I have is a Ludwig stainless steel (inside and out), a base drum with original pedal, snare with stand, large floor tom, 2 medium toms, 2-small toms, 2-cymbals with stands and a high-hat set. All drums have the original blue - olive badge and all have serial numbers 160****.

Please have a look at the photo's I've attached if you have time and if possible can you help me with value. Though I'm not looking to get rich, I'm also not willing to just give these away. Afterall, they cost me about $2K worth of electronic equipment.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I'll be interested to hear what the guys think. I've only seen one other SS set over the years. Belonged to a drummer up here in the north shore of MA and he had it back in the early 90's. He only had the five-piece setup though, and I never did discussed value with him.

The concert Toms typically don't go for as much but the entire kit looks to be in really good shape from the pics. The Supraphonic Snare in good shape should bring $200-$300 alone. Pricing will depend on the rarity of sizes. Is the floor tom 18 or 16? What is the kick size? My guess is that those two drums will be the most valuable because they are not concert toms. Also depends on how fast you wanna move em! I imagine to get anything 1200 or over you might be waiting around awhile for the right buyer.

Sorry to take up valuable space here because I dont have a number either. I just wanted to say what a beautiful drum set. It is a buyers market out there so they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. I would think you should easily get your 2K back but it might take time. Good luck, I wish I had the cash to make an offer but its been a slow start for me this year.

Wow, that's a rocker of a set. I used to go bananas over big concert toms like those. The sound of the 80's (at least for me).

I'm not experienced enough to give a value, but you should be able to get a decent enough price since you have kept them in such good condition.

Good luck selling those.

Here are the dimensions in inches to the drums in the attached phots for the Solid STailess Steel set:

Dia X ht

Bass - 22 x 16

Snare - 14 x 6

Floor Tom 18 x 16

Med Tom 1 16 x 14

Med Tom 2 15 x 12

Sm Tom 1 14 x 10

Sm Tom 2 13 x 9

PS: I used the Dia inside the rim ring. Hope that's the right method.

That is a Ludwig quadraplus kit from the mid 1970's. It appears to be a nice example! As noted earlier it is a buyers market and they are worth what someone is willing to pay. I think $1500-$2000 is reasonable. Keep it intact. Don't let someone talk you into just selling one piece.

I'm a Large stainless steel kit owner, as you've already been told this is a Quadraplus kit ,Stainless set, concert toms don't sale very well, the steel drum you have go for the 1000.00 to 1300.00 range or so for them, the Ludwig 402 but it maybe a 400 after looking at your pic if it's the 5x14" model then 250,00 or so for it but if it's a 6 1/2x14" snare drum it is the most valuable drum in the kit. they sale in the 350.00 to 500.00 dollar in good condition. the two atlas stands you have the snare and hi hat stand are valuable around 150.00 for both of them, the new zildjian A cymbal set 375.00 or so.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!
