hello

I am new here although I have lurked around here on and off.

I enjoy learning and looking at all the kits you guys have!

I am 58, played semi pro for many years and now....hmmm, play in the house lol

I have a mid 60's Rogers Holiday 12/14/20 Jet Black Pearl set with a 73 SuperTen snare. I got drums these 25 years ago from the original owner who was a older gentleman, friend and drummer. He played out weekly, worked in a music store and played only Rogers from the 1960's until he passed away.

I have played these in many recordings and performances in many types of settings. WOW all I can say is, still the best sounding drums I have ever played on !

In the early 90's I got a Big R set, natural Maple finish 13/16/22...kinda cool.

Used those for awhile to save the "little" set from getting dragged in and out of clubs. I sold the R set after a few years due to the fact that I simply like the small drums better!

Anyway...just wanted to say hello and give a bit of back ground.

JOHN:

I feel honored to be the first one to WELCOME you to the forum!

Now that you've decided to stop "lurking" (LOL!) and actually jump in, I'm sure you're going to find being a member as rewarding as I have. The members here are truly a great group of people full of helpful information that they're more than willing to share.

Have a good look around and ENJOY!Excited

JOHN:

Correction -- 2nd one. Jim was a little "quicker on the trigger" than me!

Forgot to mention: GREAT LOOKING kit!Bowing That Jet Black Pearl finish (when maintained properly) is really a classic look IMHO. Yours looks to be in near mint condition. I prefer the jazz sizes also. I've got a Rogers Cleveland-era Holiday kit in Champagne Sparkle Pearl that I purchased some time ago but haven't yet had the chance to play it.

You and I share some similarities in age and location of where we're currently "performing" (LOL). Unfortunately, I never came close to semi-pro status back when I was in my prime. Now that I think of it, I'm not really sure I ever had a "prime." Maybe it means that I'm a "late bloomer" and that I haven't yet peaked. We've got to hold onto our dreams now, don't we?

Have fun!

Welcome Panick. I too have a black Rogers kit in the same sizes, although my BD and RT are both Towers and the 14x16 deep is a holiday. No Rogers snare though. I'm 69 and still semi-pro.

Hey everybody, thanks for the warm welcome!

I do miss being in a good band, which happened a couple times, heh

I don't miss the loading in and out, arriving home in the middle of the night though. Getting old !

Anyway, I appreciate the responce and yeah I will keep looking and learning and feeling the drums!

John

oh...another pic from the drivers seat ha!

oh...let me add, I have noticed that black kits didn't appear to be very common in the 50's and 60's like mine. Yet, in the 70's and beyond there seemed to be a zillion black sets. Pearl Exports LOL
