Hello there

Loading...

I am new to the forum, what a great resource for drummers.

My day to day kit is a 2008 Sonor Force 3007.

I just picked up my first set of used drums. They are a Pearl MX Professional series. I am trying to track down the year, and it seems that by the badges they were made in 84 -85. Anyway I just wanted to confirm this and say hello to some fellow drummers.

I'll try to upload some picks.

Couldn't verify anything for you, nice looking kit though, this is about the time pearl really started emerging as a major player.Might be one of their earliest same species kits?By the way welcome to the forum

MX, MLX & BLX - The predecessor of the original Masters series, with the MX being a wrapped 6ply maple kit, and the MLX and BLX being lacquered 6ply Maple and Birch Kits respectively. Included 2.3mm Superhoops, through-shell mounting and often came with a free-floating snare.

thats all i can find lol. Its so tough to nail down the manufacturing date, because it seems pearls serial numbers are more for your personal records and insurance purposes. DOH

Thanks for the info. I'll try to do some more investigating...

I can't believe Pearl's reference numbers are so useless!

According to the "Badge" page it seems like it would be a 84-85.

One thing that doesn't add up is that this set is a laquered finish, and according to the Wiki page the MX series is a wrapped series. The drums don't look refinished in any way.

I am also trying to find out when Pearl started using the heavy duty one piece lugs for the professional series.

thanks for the help.
