hello and help please.

It's OK...one of two things can be done.

1) Use a different type of legs.

2) Ask around, we can find you another shell in B/S pretty easily. What size is the bass?

Well I measured all of them earlier and the bass was 20x14 and I was considering using a fold up type leg or the curved Ludwig ones are pretty sweet.

I ordered new snare hardware earlier, I also looked at the lever on the strainerand it seems that it is supposed to be bent like that as it is perpendicular to the shell and very thick and difficult to bend.

And so I dont forget and for future refference the other drums measure

Bass: 20x14

Floor tom: 16.5x16

Tom1: 12.5x8

Tom2: 13.5x9

snare:14 (I didn't measure depth here )

Also thanks for all the help so far guys without you I'd still be staring wondering what the heck it is

I've replaced those type spurs with Pearl Export style swivel spurs on 2 bass drums now.It goes from wiggly-walk to rock solid. They are available on Ebay for approx $30 delivered .Quadruple-check before you drill for exact positioning, with the spur in it's extended position.I believe mine ended up at around 8 and 4 o'clock. On one set I filled the old spur hole with a short carriage bolt and 2 slightly contoured flat fender washers,on the other I left the old spur mounts there. That rectangular sticker on the bass looks like a Penncrest logo,MIJ stencils made for J.C.Penney.I repaired and recut a floor tom exactly like yours for a customer-double round over profile. It ended up being one of the best sounding floor toms I'd ever heard.

I have a 20" in good condition if you want it, and it even matches....However, mine is a 9 ply.

From cn679

From the pics on photobucket, I think you have an early Pearl snare. The bass drum and toms are clearly Star, but I have no idea what the floor tom mounts are. Dont think I've ever seen that style, doesn't look Japanese to me.I wouldn't re-wrap this set if I were you. Yes, they have faded, but not too badly. When the blue sparkle gets really bad it starts turning a pale green color. You are right, these have a great character. As for everything else, it just depends on how far you'd like to go restoring this set. The snare can be worked into a good player, parts can be found or replaced for the other drums. (I would consider buying all new inserts and t-rods for the lugs, for the top and bottom heads. It will make your life easier, trust me.) The interiors could use a good sanding. New heads obviously. It would be a lot of work, but you would be very happy and proud of the end result.

The floor tom legs mounts were used on late 60s to mid 70s drums,i have seen them on both no name drums made by pearl and star..As for the parts missing on the set i have two of the floor tom leg mounts, the one in the photo has the wrong wing-nut,the wing nut is a "T" shape..I also have the bass drum leg mounts and legs and any tom mounting parts that you would need also have the claws for the bass drum but No t-rods..email if you like thats the best way you can try a P.M. but my box gets full all the time...Mikey

You nknow, I moved the 20 I had, I think. If the guy will let me buy it back, I can probably get it to you, but it is a 6 lugger. I will let you know if I can get it back. I have a 9 ply, but it won't match sonically with those others.
