Hello all! Can you help me identify these drums?

I've been perusing the forums for a while and I was going to start off with a different question but these drums have come up for sale and I was hoping someone could help me identify them. I know the pics are bad, but hopefully some of the eagle eyes around here can solve this mystery.

Thanks!

The pics are a little far away.... It looks like Ludwig from afar. The snare looks like an Acrolite... the lugs on the drums look like Ludwig too, but there's not enough detail to tell. Many import kits try and clone the look of classics though. Are there any identifying marks?

Metal bass drum hoops

Odd placement of the railmount

The lugs kind of look like Ludwig lugs

The railmount may be similar to a Ludwig-style, but the position of t would not have been there for a 22", 10-lug bass drum.

The wrap color is unusual -not a Ludwig finish.

My guess is a Japanese drum set....or a Frankenstein kit rewrapped in a modern finish

O-lugs, that's what has been throwing me for a loop or a hoop, so to speak. Metal hoops and odd railmount placement. The railmount seems like it would belong on an earlier set than something wrapped in a satin flame.

Ok, the fellow selling these drums has give me a bit more info. He said that when his family had it "reskinned" 12 years ago they were told it was a "top of the line" vintage set.

I'm with O-lugs, the snare is a Ludwig acrolite, but the rest is MIJ until better pics pop up!!

Yes, all MIJ except the Acrolite. The bass lugs look like Star, so this would be a late 60-early 70s kit. How much does he want? The Acrolite is worth 100+ so you may want to grab them. If the wrap is original, they could bring a couple hundred, maybe.

The interior of the bass looks to be grey, which would be Star. I say they are Star, I have looksed at plenty of Star interiors. And the rail looks like it as well. The scream Strar to me.

Unless the shells and lugs are Sling, then the stupid metal hoops added so someone could keep the original woodies for their own kit.

Looks like you got cymbals there too, or is it just the case?

Well, you know, you might be able to get it resold and make all your money back and keep the acro. I am sort of that way about it. Get a good look at them, some good pix and let me look at the MIJ stuff. Get a good shot of the bass lugs, and the floor tom. What are the sizes? Get in touch with a school now, before schoiol is out and find out if there are any students needing a good set of drums. Go to them, don't let them go to the music stores. I have good success this way. Throw in a few lessons, you know? I am working out a build for a set. A guy bought one of my snares and I am building him a set and he is going to start giving us lessons to pay it off. So, if you offer say 5 or 10 lessons and a 300 drum set, you might get a great student and make a freind to mentor. I love working with kids.
