Question to you all?? Would a Triple flange rim affect a head going on adrum compared to a hoop?? Some thing does not sound right on E bay right now there is a 20" gong that is a cut off from a shell with lugs and triple flange rim but says that he can not find a head for it?? Something doesn't sound right what do you all think?? Just sounds freaky

The problem with that drum on ebay is:

The lugs appear to be standard tom or bass drum lugs.

Lugs for a gong drum need to be angled out from the shell.

For a 20" gong drum you would use a 22" bass drum head.

The lugs would be either factory gong drum lugs like Tama which angle out at the top or, use regular lugs with a spacer on the top and a longer lug screw to attach. (I have never done this)

Maybe spacers top and bottom of lug.

Then a regular bass drum hoop, claws and rods.

Check out the pic of the Tama gong drum in white at the top of the ebay page.

It shows the special angled lugs and set up.

I want to see this drum when you finish it. Good Luck.
