Have these OHIO Rogers toms been modified?

I have been looking for Rogers drums that are Cleveland (or Dayton) with the solid gray interiors with Beavertail lugs, not BnB lugs.

I see these 2 auctions on eBay and on the first one, it's a Cleveland with a serial number of 8562 (although it's a scratch out label) and it has BT lugs. Kind of odd for a serial number that low.

Then, I see that the washers are over-sized on 1/2 of the lugs and I figure this is a classic example of the BnB being replaced with BT and the holes needing enlarged and the larger washer is covering the modified hole.

OK, I convinced myself.

Then, I saw the second auction...

The auction is another Cleveland tom, solid gray and a much higher serial number (again, not a definite sign, we know) which believably came from the factory with BT lugs.

However, this tom also has the over-sized washers on 1/2 of the lugs.

Was this how Rogers did it or would these appear to both be modified?

The one auction is over and I'll ask the current auction seller if they know if the drum has been modified but based upon their description, I doubt I'll get a solid answer.

Any comments?

They all have oversized washers on half. At least all of the Cleveland/Dayton drums I have seen do. Not sure about the snares...but the bass drums and toms do for sure.

The only way to know if it is a fraud is to get the seller to take some pics with the hardware off so you can see if the holes were enlarged.

Drum number 1 looks like it has tall hoops, possibly a yorktown tag, Im not really sure. But I would guess, 64. Drum number 2, in the 47xxx range, late 64 to early 65. If the builder was short on tags, or happened to be on a table with different tags, they just grabbed a tag, sharpied out whatever name was on it, and usually wrote in Holiday or whichever drum was being built. As this one is typed in, chances are, they were just short that day. They were building drums, the best drums, as quickly as possible.

Both are original beavertail drums I believe.
