I saw three Ludwig Standard toms on cl, 12,13,16, in ok condition. The silver mist wrap was faded, some cracks in wrap and no heads on either side. He was asking $150 for all three, I offered him $125, to which he declined. Fair enough, a day later I'm checking cl again and the same toms were listed for $200. Now these drums have been up for several months for $150, I make him a offer and he ups the price? I suppose some sellers just don't really want to sell.

Last week I made on offer on a truck. Guy said yes. I went back with cash the next day. Guy said, "No, I need more," and said he wanted 150% of what we agreed on. Yes, that kind of person exists.

I've had my Ruby standards with classic lugs and a chrome standard aluminum snare for sale for $500 for over a year and have not had a single, honest bite. $150 sounds fair for those toms.

In the greater scheme of life most of this kind of thing doesn't really matter. Letting loonies bother you is a prescription for a one way trip to the loonie bin.

Wanted: Pearl President floor tom in Golden Grain wrap and rack tom in Tiger Eye (root beer) wrap.

My guess is that somebody e mailed him and told him they were worth more than he was asking. I don't think your offer played into it.

I see things that have been sitting on Craigslist get bumped up in price from time to time. I'm guessing they are getting a few bites but they are offers of 25 to 50 bucks or so less than they want so they bump up the price knowing they are going to get offers of less than the asking price. That way when they take the offer of a little less the buyer feels they are getting a deal and the seller gets what he/she originally wanted.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
