So I don't so much sell on Ebay, actually don't think I ever have. But every so often I do come across something I need or want to buy. Recently though I just have not gotten feedback from anyone. I always leave feedback when my item arrives. I shouldn't have to ask for the same. Years ago I didn't even think about it, people just did it. Does no one care? If that's the case I won't leave any either. Why boost someone else if they can't do the same for me. Maybe I'm just sore because the last 5 transactions were smooth buy it now or best offer and not one positive feedback from any seller.
Has Ebay feedback gone the way of the Dinosaur?

I credit it to pure laziness for sellers that don`t reciprocate leaving feedback...I normally send a kind reminder asking for positive feedback...Usually, they will leave feedback after that...

Jay I was just thinking about this. Out of the last 10 transactions I have (I buy only and don't sell) I've left positive feedback for all. Out of those 10 only 2 took the time to give me positive feedback. Everything was paid for right away through EB/PP. Paid goods were all as described and smooth transactions. I always wait until the transaction is complete on both sides before I leave feedback. So I dunno??? I prefer to buy off forum members here and at DFO. Or at shows. But sometimes ebay is the only place I can find certain things I need. So I shop there too.

Been a member since 1999. Consistently about 12% of buyers and sellers are too lazy to bother with letting you know the stuff arrived, and do not post feedback... ever. There is another small percentage that are haphazard about it, they might and might not.

Maybe.
As a seller I leave feedback after prompt payment- the buyer has done their part at that point. If a buyer doesn't leave feedback I block them from future purchases.
As a buyer I leave feedback upon receiving the item if the purchase is a positive experience. I don't leave negative feedback unless the seller is a scammer.
Leaving feedback is a courtesy. Not leaving feedback is rude. I don't need a buck bad enough to deal with rude people.
Sometimes the buyer isn't there to give the feedback. That is often my case. If eBay was flexible enough to allow one to leave positive feedback on the items that the buyer can comment on accurately, I would leave feedback for all I can say honestly. However, I have left positive feedback on a couple of items knowing in part that it is not the seller's fault that I wasn't there. When I did get there to check the item out, I found the description wasn't accurate. So I've given positive feedback where it wasn't due. So I stopped doing that. However, the seller's know my position and agree to sell before I buy. So they know the deal. If feedback is still available when I finally arrive, I left the feedback, but a lot of times it has expired.
feedback means a heck of a lot more to a seller than a buyer, if certain criteria is met a seller is upgraded to a "top rated" seller status which commands a 20% discount off of the 10% flat fee ebay charges sellers on each item sold, having the highest marks in regards to feedback is main part of the criteria that needs to be met, if your only buying on ebay feedback means almost nothing, when i buy & receive i always leave FB and if i dont receive a return i will ask for one, when i sell i use to always leave as soon as payment was received but then over a time the percentage of follow up FB drastically dropped so why would i leave for customer which doesnt even really mean anything if they're arent going to leave for me the seller, so now i leave once received
I both sale and buy on ebay, I have in my sales copy how important feedback is to the seller. As a buyer I have had to send emails reminding the seller to leave feedback as I already have done so.
my understanding is, as soon as you pay for something, you deserve feedback, you've done your part. I think most sellers withhold sending feedback as a way to force the buyer into leaving + feedback before they, the seller leaves their feedback
