So I just bought these based on the pics. I didn't break the bank ($150.) figured I couldn't go wrong. I used to have a vintage set of Premiers years ago and loved them, I know these are a little newer, can anyone tell me how old these are? All the stuff in the pics was included for the 150. All paid for and picking them up on Sat. Thanks..Rich.
Guys, tell me what I bought
Once you have them, please post a few better shots so more of the Premier guys will be able to help. I don't want to hazard a guess, but the badge suggests pre-Yamaha (1988). The inside of the shells will tell a lot.
I am not 100% but I think those may be the "Xpk" line. They were popular and affordable in the mid late 90s i believe and may still offer that line still today.. notice there are a lot of "mays" in my statement as I am not 100%.
The more recent XPK kits don't have the single piece, long lugs. Those lugs on yours look like they may be from the 90s. Regardless, I think it's a good buy at $150 bucks! Should be a good little gigging kit. A friend had an Xpk birch kit and I used to play it when our bands would share the stage at different venues, nice drums.

Hey Richie,
I love em man, I am thinkng they are APK also
I have a white bass drum over here like that
Nice drums and hardware for only a buck and a half pal
Good luck with them

For the most part APKs were wrapped & XPKs were lacquered, the exception being one-off XPK Special Edition, with cheezy thin wrap and weird particleboard shells. I'm gonna go with APK on these too. I'm quite fond of these drums and the 1026 and 1036 steel snares from this period. I owned an APK/Cabria (transition to Cabria) for a short while and the workmanship was much shoddier than the old APKs and had snare beds crookeder than even a monday morning could excuse...anyways I digress...Congrats on a sweet score. I always find these kits easy to tune and pleasant to the ear. Hope you will too.
