Guys in South Australia you will love this

There might be some good gear in all of that (not $6k in a fit though). Have a look at the first picture, just to the right and slightly below the no lug gold bd shell.. do they look like Drouyn/Dandy lugs? There's a couple other just to the right, red, one on top of each other..

If was down the road from me I'd have a look and see if there was any buried treasure and see if I could pick anything up individually.

90% junk, 10% treasure??

Cheers

From alot2008

i guess i will have to go and have a look

We await your report. I'm going to go out on a limb and wager there is nothing or very little of interest in that pile. I think somebody who accumulates that much stuff will have enough knowledge to weed out the good stuff for the photos. I'd also imagine that, like NZ, you'd expect to spy some premier stuff in any pile worth it's salt in Australia. If you can't see any vintage Prems then the chances of finding anything else cool are slim at best.

Anyway, for the archives, here are some of the photos:

Be good to know how this was accumulated.. those Pearl 70's BD pedals (bottom shelf right) are worth the 20 bucks if all of the bits are there..Cheers

If it was a drum store, they look like trade-ins

There was a builder here recently who closed his retail shop... his selloff piles looked the same

"I tink I saw a putty cat"

I mean....I think I saw a Dynasonic or Super Ten....but only 8 lugs...not sure now.

I would give them $3000 and I would come out with a smile.....think about it. How many $200 kits are there....easily 10. Then there are all the Bass Drums, BD pedals, cymbals, treasures of valuable American pieces. All you need is one or two American kits and you have a third of it right there.

I know somebody who did this.....paid $5000. Not sure how he came out....but I can tell ya that he got about $1300 from me. He said he regretted doing it because it is simply too time consuming.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Its mostly junk yes but he said he sells the crappy kits for 200 each and makes a nice profit. I ended up gettin a couple of hoops with BDP inlay, a trixon hi hat stand and a pearl bass drum which he threw in. Its the same one blackdog thought was a Drouyn/dandy. Theres still some good stuff there to be had. Mountains of spare parts for MIJs and some weird European looking parts. Im going back on Saturday for another trawl through it (Its 3 sheds worth and badly piled in so hard to see) so Ill report back again with anything else.

Doesn't look like it's worth the amount he's asking for... You're bound to find some valuable items in there, sure enough, say 2k for those, and another 2k for the rest.... That's it for me.

I went to a sale in N.H. last fall where they were selling off the remains of a New England music store chain's drum inventory. Went home with half-dozen odd wristwatch-lug C.B. drums (including an 18"F.T.), some stands and heads and a t-shirt for around $60. Mostly a big luan/basswood wood pile. That reminds me of what I see here. It WAS fun exploring...
