Sure, you don't have to pay the tractor, but try getting it to a gig.band3
They always turn up louder and louder at a gig, and it realy does ......up your drumming dynamics that I'm wanting to get across- when playing unmiked that is. It always gets to me the fact that when I'm playing tastefull dynamic stuff particularly on the hi- hat (as in a certain band I play with) it just gets lost in the wall of sound so I'm trying to get it out and IAM then playing louder and louder .....and then it gets a bit lost......
guitar players are like dogs. One can be controlled, but get a group of em on stage together and it's just pandemonium.
Just like Sax players! LOL
Seriously, unless your being paid to be there like your backing an artist, a band is and will always be a group of mates doing what they love together. Anything else and it crumbles. No different to hanging out in a bar, or whatever. You wouldn't hang out in a bar with a guy who tells you to F-OFF every 2 mins.
Also, you weren't making comments on his fingering technique, you were discussing a legit musical dynamic in the part. Just the same as he or anyone else in the band asking you to just back off this bit and build into the next etc. That's what rehearsals are for isn't it? Trying to make the band sound as cool as possible.
Next rehearsal wind him up by telling him his Guitar strap is set to high!
