Hi guys, bet you're all thinking...man thought we was rid of that crazy lady...haha not a chance boys, i'm still here. lol. Walking just kiddin'

just wanted to share a lit'l joy with ya all. not a vintage kit or any thing to write home bout...but was able to buy back the first kit i owned b4 i got the camcos from my aunt jamie. just a 5pc kit w/original hardware. Groove Percussion. sold the kit to a good buddy a cup'l yrs ago with the agreement that i would get 1st chance at it if ever he decided to get rid of it. so got a call saturday morning asking if i still wanted the kit and after he dang near twisted my arm off i rushed right over and completed the deal, lol. for what this kit is...it is in really good shape (except the heads) and is really a nice sounding kit. it is an older GP set but been taken good care of. my uncle alan who has drummed for 40yrs (until his stroke last yr) tried to buy the snare for it from me one night after he had to finish a gig with it. we was doing a gig at the bar across the street from the apt. i lived in at the time and he broke the head on his snare which he did not have a replacement for so i ran across the street and got my snare. uncle alan was pretty impressed with the sound of a cheap beginners kit snare and offered to buy it. it went with the kit and the only one i had at the time so had to say no but did offer to bring it along to the gigs if he wanted to use it. anyway...didn't mean to write a book here so will just post a photo and end this rambling.

Hi Robyn!

Great story! Regardless of make of drums, it seems our first kit is always special to us. Mine was a 4pc gold sparkle Lyra...made in Japan in the late 60's. I played that kit for 5 years in various bands. My Lyra kit actually made me money! I traded it in 1972 as a small down payment for a new Rogers Celebrity kit. I'm glad I still have a few pictures of my playing my Lyra's!

Hey robyn... Welcome back!

Great story! My first kit was a WMP Kent, with a 6-lugger snare and a six lug bass drum, but I loved it. I learned to play on that boxy sounding kit. Sorry now that I ever sold it. I should have bagged it and kept it just for what it was, my first kit. I traded it in at Manny's Music plus some cash, on the purchase of a used 13", 16", 22"/w 14" J-fest, set of Ludwigs a year after I first bought it.

Who knew?

Nice to see a post from you... I was beginning to wonder.

John

PS - Hey, don't forget... (if you ever) decide to sell Aunties Camco's, (which I doubt, because I know you!) I want first call on em! Gorgeous kit. You should sink a few bucks into restoring that one!

Too many great drums to list here!

you all don't have to worry i haven't gone far, just been kinda busy and haven't spent much time on my laptop at all. i hve peeked in a cup'l times and done a lit'l reading, i'll keep in touch and chime in here and there, i have missed being here, the days will be getting shorter here soon and will have more time on my hands. you know how it is.

o and john....just don't you worry too much bout lit'l aunties camcos coz i doubt they will be going anywhere. but you can come on over and play them any time you want. it's always open stage round here. band2

Lol I love the DW bass drum head. Wait a sec buddy....you're not foolin' anyone. At a show once some drummer had a Ludwig logo on his bass. Loved the sound but knew they weren't Luddies. Ended up being Percussion Plus. Goes to show ... Welcome back.
