What would you guys consider a fair price for a round badge in a+ shape with 12 14 20 and the 4x14 snare from early 60's with serial # spread about 100 apart? Got one on my radar.

Check ebay "Completed" sales. The best way.

Done that but most of them have some flaws. This particular kit has no extra holes no tears, original everything, perfect chrome. Only flaw is a tiny discoloration about size of a dime or less. I want to jump on it as i know gretsch is my sound. I have a round badge from maxwell drums that had a bass drum hole filled and covered with correct wrap as my gigging kit.... But i want the "grand piano" kit for the house now...

Pictures, pictures pictures. If not, check against Maxwell's site. He sells dreams.

Sounds like its right on... A bit cheaper than maxwell... But definitely not a steal. The other kit i'm scoping is a 1959 kit 12" is 3ply. 14 and 20 are 6ply. No matching snare though. Was scared to buy a 3ply as ive never got to play one

Don't be scared.....the 3-ply drums are what the slogan "That Great Gretsch Sound" is actually referring to, NOT the later 6-ply drums.

All those jazz guys in the 50's that recorded with Gretsch.....what you are hearing is the 3-ply sets. Cool1
