Wayne, it's not clear whether the prof mods can be reversed or if they mean new holes and other one way damage.

That finish is difficult to price because so little of it comes up. I've seen one set like that on ebay over the last year and even it is not a good reference because the "rock star" that owned it thought this meant he could write in marker all over the inside of the snare drum. Pooder has been trying to sell a ride tom in that finish for an extraordinary amount for as long as I can remember.

I would also warn you that you will have a helluva job to find an original floor tom in that finish. I've not seen one in the year I've been following drum sales. I can speak to this first hand because I bought a set like this (although with snare) and I've have yet to be able to get the FT...and that's champagne sparkle!

OK. *To me* I would say 600 is a bit high if the mods are irreversible. But pretty good if original. 200 I would receive as a joke if I were the seller. So maybe somewhere in between but closer to 600 would be a good deal.

Wayne, if you got them for $200, then you got a great deal, suffice it to say.

I assume the black sparkle you refer to is anniversary sparkle

The difference is that starlight is more of a mocha / cinammon color (depending on fade), while the anniversary is a solid black background with gold speck flakes all over it.

Here is an example of starlight sparkle...I know the webmaster likes it when we put up pics instead of links, esp to ebay, but this is a P00der auction so I'm sure the drum will be up on ebay for some time to come :)

Well its definately a starlight finish,i,ll do my best to post pics.Which finish is the more rare of the two?Its quite striking...Also,the RB does not have an air hole through it..Does this somehow help date these drums?

Nice work, especially if for $200.

To my knowledge there is a slight variation of the RB where the sticks are thicker but I don't know where it all fits in in the matrix.

What I do know is that there are 3 different sorts of RB. One for the snare with a small air hole, bass with a large air hole and the toms had no air hole, only a ribbed tack.

My understanding is that starlight was only used in the late 50s or early 60s period. What will help date is if the drums have labels in them or not. And if they do what they say. If they don't have labels, then whether they are 3 or 6 ply.

Look forward to the pics.
