That's a 60s drum, with the wrong hoops. More like $200+ if you figure based on the parts.
Nice drum.
Man, I don't know what it is, but I LOVE 6 lug snares. I know most snares have 8 or 10, but something about the 6 lugs setup I find has a really nice sound. For brushes especially...
I don't know, I might be crazy...
Does anyone else find this?
I'm going to guess it's a late 50's early 60's drum.

[*]silver paint inside the shell without paper label
[*]bottom hoop is single flanged hook style tension

It looks like the Dixieland model. My guess is the top hoop was bent up or cracked and replaced. All of the other hardware looks original. The badge looks intact too.
Find a single flanged top hoop and some hooks and you might be able to get a little more than $200. You could even try to find some 6 lug cast hoops for the top and bottom, but I think the bottom hoops are hard to find.
It looks like a really nice snare that would give you that "big band" sound.

I'm guessing it had to do with the way the wood resonates.
[LIST]
[*]less tension on the heads
[*]two less lugs to absorb sound
[*]more wood exposed
[*]the use of flanged hoops vs. cast give a more open sound too

Throw on a nice thin/rough coated head and your brushes will make these drums sing. :)

Yes! Nice little Dixieland 6 lugger. You might have to do some hunting to get the correct hoop and hooks....then it will be a real keeper. Love the shoelace!
Nice little drum. It's probably an early 60's Dixieland like the one in this 61 Gretsch catalog. Note that it was $52 in the day - that's over $300 in today's dollars. Yes - the top hoop was switched out. I'd say it's worth $200 easy. The parts alone are worth that......the snare badges go for around $100 these days. I don't know what the shoe laces are worth.......but if they work.......
