I talked to a guy yesterday who bought a champagne sparkle Gretsch round badge kit with a 12,14,18 for $3,500, pretty expensive, right? Well, not a week later he gets an email from the owner of Classic Vintage Drums who offers him $8,000!
Apparently there is a big market in Japan for Gretsch round badge kits with the 12,14,18 configuration, he sells them in Japan for $13,000, HOLY MOLY!

Well, I talked to the owner of CVD and those are the numbers he gave me also. He said all the Japanese jazz drummers want the kits that were used by the American jazz greats back in the 60's. It's hard to imagine forking over $13,000 for a kit, there must be a lot of "well to do" jazz drummers in Japan.x-mas3
That's incredible $$. Like you say, JR, hard to imagine forking over that kind of dough for a drum kit. It will be interesting to see if the speculation in Japan affects the American market.
