Take it from experience, glass wraps are royal PITA to work with. You will undoubtedly end up cutting back the wrap from the bearing edges if you use a modern glass wrap.
Consider (period correct) Burgundy sparkle, (modern version is called 'Merlot' like the wine,) or Tangerine sparkle, if you decide to use glass wrap. Both are classy and classic Gretsch finishes.

Drumsandsome was selling some of the Merlot wrap for a good price not so long ago. I just bought some Champagne sparkle from him.
Hey Airborne, do you know what that champagne sparkle is called, I don't see it listed. I'd like to do a set of teardrops in that finish to keep it closer to a factory sonor listed in the catalogs. If not i'll be doing gold sparkle or white strata.

He took it off eBay but it was called champagne sparkle. He said a guy from Germany wanted to buy it all. I got enough for a 4 piece.

I wrapped these on the left with Glass Glitter and they are a little hard to fit the heads but I am so glad I went with the Glass.

Amazing job you did there! In case anyone was wondering he has the wrap up again on eBay. I was a little disappointing because he said his version was custom made with more copper sparkles in it. In person it looks really nice. I got enough to wrap a four piece at a great price.

Hi guys I also have a similar question, I have a set of my dad's gretsch drums from 50s or 60s. I've held onto them for five years now and have decided to sell them. They are not in the best of condition. Do you think it would be worth it to spend the money and time to restore them before selling them?
