Gretsch RB Price Check

I've been offered this Gretsch RB in a midnight sparkle finish. The kit is a re-wrap that came from Chris Hawthorne Drum Shop. There are no extra holes and the drums look to be in excellent condition.

I don't know what the original asking price from the drum shop or how much was actually payed.

Any ideas on what a kit like this would be valued?

I'm not at all sure of Gretsch pricing nowadays, but it looks as if the refinishing work was well done. I might guess somewhere $1500 or below if the shells and hardware were really good before it was refinished. Name Band sets were very popular and should have very good sound. However, with Gretsch drums in particular, it's the smaller sizes that tend to draw attention.

The attached gives you and idea for '50 era 3-ply with a snare drum in original WMP.

I just found the original Reverb add from Chris Hawthorne Drum Shop, he had it listed for $1,350 and it was sold for $1,250 plus shipping of course. I've been offered this kit for my 50's era Gretsch duco kit. With it being a re-wrap, I was unsure of it's value, but it looks like it would be worth trading mine.

I was going to say $1100-1200, which seems about right.

Dan is right; the smaller Bop sets are more desirable, but that's fine for rock drummers who want bigger sizes. I had a 60's Gretsch set that I had recovered, and while they were nice drums, they were no better than my Slingerlands, or anything else I have owned. Nothing Gretsch makes interests me very much these days, including their guitars. That's just me. I had some questionable experiences with Gretsch guitars that turned me off.

I've decided not to trade my duco, although it has a ton of battle scars, it's pretty much all original, just missing a few badges. Besides, I think it sounds great.

Use headphones responsibly.
