Gretsch RB pawn shop find

Loading...

So I found this progressive jazz set in a pawn shop in Alamogordo, NM a couple of years ago. It was in poor shape, but it cleaned up real nice. I still need to fill a couple of blemishes on the edges, but they are slight. The seams are lifting and I’d like to correct that; then the set will be like new. Tomorrow I’ll post pics of what it looked like when I got it.

Did the pawn shop have any idea of the real value of the drum set? I hope for you that they were clueless.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

They were clueless. I visited the pawn shop and saw the snare on the shelf and after a few visits, the owner final told me he had the rest of the set in the back. Wow. That was the moment I knew I had something good going on . I've attached some photos from the pawn shop and when I finally got them home. I have about $1500 plus heads into it, including the purchase price.

Couldn't upload all my photos. Will try later.

Thanks, but probably not. The wrap on the hoops was trashed and I first replaced it with merlot sparkle, but it doesn't quite match so I replaced it with the silver sparkle and I'm pretty happy with the look.

I cant get the "before" photos to load, but does anyone have an idea about the date of these drums? From the tags, I've been told late 1960s, but i don't know for sure.
